Highly recommended professional teacher When I see the many positive comments about Mr. Thanh's Vietnamese teaching on this web site, I feel like I could have written them myself. I find the one-on-one experience via Skype to be far more effective than a classroom situation. I always look forward to our weekly meetings and intend to continue for some time to come, as I feel like I'm making progress in a language that I had previously thought unapproachable. Mr. Thanh does more than just deliver the lesson, which is what makes him such a good teacher. You can tell that he enjoys sharing his knowledge of his language with others who want to learn it, and this makes it that much more interesting. We usually have some ad hoc discussion at the beginning of the lesson, as much as possible in Vietnamese despite my beginner's level, so I always end up learning much more than just what's in the lesson materials (save your Skype transcripts and study those too!). This unstructured part of our meetings is as important as the more formal parts of the lesson. I try to make sentences that I can't always complete, and Mr. Thanh shows me how to say it, which makes the learning experience more personalized.
