I have recently moved to Kraków last week, after having lived in London, UK, all my life. I have strong Polish roots, as my mother's family are Polish, and I have always felt a strong connection to the country and it's culture.
Having decided that I wanted to experience life outside of London, and having always loved Kraków as a city, I found a good job over here, and have moved over.
My grasp of the Polish language however, is pretty limited. I used to speak pretty well up until the age of about 5, as my Grandparents spoke Polish to me, but unfortunately , as I was sent to an English school and spent less time with them, my Polish has become pretty much non-existent! The silver lining is that I do have the foundations, in that I'm told my pronunciation is very good. I really need to work on my vocab and grammar. My new job is as Global Sales Manager for a reputable company based in Kraków, and although most of the staff can speak English, I would like to show them the respect of communicating with them in their mother tongue. I will also eventually be expected to make sales pitches to large Polish corporations, and so I would really like to be able to converse with them in Polish too!
I'm confident that a lot of my Polish skills are hidden away somewhere in the back of my mind and so I just need someone with patience and a good sense of humour to help me find them! Depending on cost I would probably be looking for 1-2 Polish lessons per week, maybe more, preferably in the evening after office hours.
As for qualities in a teacher, I would prefer someone who can instill some confidence in me and who has some patience. I've been told by a lot of people that my Polish could be very good, but I feel I lack the confidence in myself.
