Wanted: Experienced Hindi teacher for private lessons in the Cambridge/Bos ton area.

I am of Indian descent, but did not learn Hindi as a child, and am currently 35 years old. I have some existing but limited Hindi vocabulary/ph rases and can more or less read Devanagari script but have essentially no grammar knowledge. In conversation I typically get the gist of 25%-35% of what is being said.

My wife, aged 31, is not of Indian descent, and will be learning from scratch - however, having a degree in linguistics and already speaking three foreign languages fluently she is a quick study.

For both of us our first language is English. Our reason for learning is for communication with family in India, primarily verbal but also written.

W e are both professionals with limited time and are looking for private tuition preferably in our home in Cambridge, MA or in the local area, twice a week on weekday evenings. Its unlikely we will be able to devote much time to homework, so learning should be concentrated in the lessons themselves
We are looking for a teacher with substantial experience in teaching Hindi to English speakers, including private tuition, and who will adapt to our level of progress/prof iciency as required. I have successfully learned Italian through private lessons before and feel this approach will work for us with the right teacher.
