I want to recall the Spanish I have learned in the past, increased my vocabulary, improve my grammar, and improve my listening skills. I am now going into peoples homes and and have clients who's native language is Spanish. I do a lot of teaching to my clients and teaching via interpretatio n is not always understood. It has been a very long time since I have attempted to practice my Spanish and I have forgotten much that I learned in high school and college. I have started Duolingo but am fighting boredom while attempting to reach more challenging levels. I spend 1-2 hours daily listening to Spanish radio or watching Las Noticias en Telemundo as well as 20-60 minutes on Duolingo lessons daily, more Duolingo lessons on the weekends.(I can understand 50-70% of most things I hear and watch on radio and TV. Las novelas are more difficult for me to understand as the speech a more normal speed, which seems quite rapid to my ear)I am dedicated to learning and can spend this much time in the lesson plans and for the class.
I would like my teacher to teach conversationa l Spanish as well as medical Spanish. I want someone who is very interested in teaching, can make the lessons challenging, fun, and interesting. I think learning the history of a culture would be very interesting because, before I veered off into nursing, I was quite a history buff and would like to renew that interest as well.
