My partner is German and I am Canadian. We are having a child together and I will be moving to Edmonton together soon. We both agree that it is essential that I learn German as quickly as possible. I would like to organize some online tutoring through a teacher in Edmonton, that I could potentially continue in person once we move there at the end of the summer.

My goal is to be absolutely fluent in speaking and writing German. We would like to use it our 'at home' language (since we'll both be specking English mainly out of the house at work, etc.). I would prefer intensive tutoring to learn as quickly as possible.

I am a complete beginner (although I have been learning some vocabulary on my own using some 'teach-yourse lf' books/audio). I have some basic Dutch as well, which I think should make the basics of German a bit easier to learn.

I want to be able to have normal, everyday and intimate conversations with my partner in German - including euphsmisms, jokes, etc... However I also need the formal aspects for addressing his family and other strangers when we are in Germany.

I n a teacher, I am looking for someone who will effectively help me achieve the above outlined goals in a timely fashion. Timewise, I can commit at least 1 hour/day for study and additional time for the email/text communication s. Once I move to Edmonton, I would like 2-3 weekly lessons, in person, until I have enough conversationa l skills to express most of what I want to say.
