Hello!

I am struggling to learn Cantonese, which is surprisingly difficult, as I come from a Cantonese-spe aking family. When I was younger, I didn't want to learn it (what kid does?), but as I've gotten older, I can see the advantages of being able to speak comfortably and fluidly with members of my family.

At the moment, I can speak very, very basic Cantonese- the fruit of 2 weeks of intense study with a (very patient!) Cantonese teacher in Hong Kong. I do believe I learn quickly, although I'm quite hopeless at trying to learn online. I need to be in person to achieve anything.

I am looking to spend another couple of weeks building on the skills I gained in HK, but this time, in Malaysia. I speak Spanish after traveling through Latin America and studying with private teachers there. What I find that works for me is a real taskmaker- someone who will give homework and has high expectations. I want to learn lots and lots of vocabulary, since grammar doesn't do you much good if you don't have words to string together in the first place! The rest is pretty flexible... solo or group doesn't matter. I'm not advanced enough for that yet.
