I want to learn Serbian because I have a boyfriend and a large group of Serbian friends and want to be able to converse with them in their language. I've also always wanted to be bilingual and well... why not Serbian? I am totally a beginner. I only know a few words and can count 0-20, very basic. I have a great photographic memory, I can remember spelling easily, I can pronounce all the letters of the Serbian alphabet, and I can even read in cyrillic. However I do not understand the whole 'cases' thing. I think that is something that will be quite a challenge to learn for a native English speaker. I'd like to dedicate an hour a week for the lesson itself. Outside of that I will practice on my own and go over material if necessary. I really need a teacher that can converse with me, answer my questions about the language, culture too and make sure I am speaking correctly. I am quite shy when it comes to speaking a language I am learning around its native speakers. I don't want to end up in an embarassing situation where I say something the wrong way. I need more of a converstaiona l approach than technical / grammatical. I can learn through skype / online measures. That would probably be the most convenient! :) Learning live, in person is ok, too. I can't afford too much for each lesson, I live on a tight budget. I saw something on this site about $30 for a 60 minute lesson? If so that would be a good price for me for once per week.
