Hola Jose!
Mi nombre es Faithe. Soy de Australia.
Como esta?

What is the difference between:
Mi nombre es Faithe and
Me llamo Faithe.

Which one do I use when I go to South America in December?

Also, what is the difference between:
Como esta? and
Como te sienta hoy?

Which one do I use in conversation?

Re:Re:Re:Hola!!!
Hi,well let me answer to you, first case:

You use "Mi nombre es Faithe" when you are introducing yourself with formality, and you use "Me llamo Faithe" when you are introducing yourself in a non-formal reunion, for example,in a bbq,and if you want to show more cordiality in the informal way you add "Hola" bebore "Me llamo Faithe"

In the second case:

The diference between this 2 sentences are:

"Como esta?" means "How are you?",excluding medical situation, and "Como te sientes hoy?" includes a question if the person who you ask this was recently sick, and write "Como te sienta hoy?" is wrong, the perfect sentence is "Como te sientes hoy?".

Re:Re:Re:Re:Hola!!!
Thank you very much. I understand!

So, when I meet people when I travel in South America, I will say:
"Hola, me llamo Faithe" ..
"Como esta?"

Now I see many ways to write, I speak little Spanish or no Spanish... I learnt this phrase from a phrase book:
"Hablo poco castellano" meaning "I don't speak much Spanish".
What is its literal meaning because I can't see the word "Espanol" in that sentence ...

And is Habla Ingles? ok for Do you speak English?

Please keep teaching me - I appreciate it greatly!
Thank you!

Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Hola!!!
when you don´t speak spanish, you can say " yo no hablo español" o " hablo poco castellano" and this´s more informal: " no se nada de español" castellano=español

Hi Faithe!

¿Habla Inglés? = Do you speak English?

Hablo poco castellano => Long time ago, Spain was not Spain. It was formed by various reigns, one of them was Castilla. With the time, the Castellanos reigned all over the territory of Spain. Nowadays, castellano = español.

Bye, and keep practicing

Thank you Andres and Carolina,

I appreciate your help. I am starting a phrase book for myself so I can remember all of your wonderful tips. I sometimes think phrase books don't teach you the way 'locals' talk!

Now tell me, now I can introduce myself ... and tell them I can't speak Spanish (although I might be able to a little with your help!) .. how do I say in Spanish:

We have boyfriends. (I hear maybe I will need to know this if my female friend and I are travelling along in South America!)

How do we get to the town centre?

:-D
Gracias.
