English or Greek in exchange for Spanish/Portugese
Hi!!
I have started learning Portugese (Brazilian) and Spanish. I would like to learn these languages for travel purposes.

I want to undersatnd a few basics before I take formal classes.

How would I write the following in (Brazilian) Portugese and Spanish;

1. Hi, my name is Kathy
2. Its my first time to (Brazil/Spain).
3. I'm so happy
4. Your beautiful (feminine and masculine forms)
5. Your sexy (feminine and masculine forms)
6. I cant wait to see/meet you
7. Im looking forward to it
8. Amazing!
9. Where can I get a (drink/something to eat etc)?"
10. Cheers (when toasting)
11. and whatever you wish for or to you..to us etc
12. what will be, will be
13. I love you
14. I like you

If anyone could help me with the above that would be a great start!!!

"ITS ALL GREEK TO ME"

In Greek you would PRONOUNCE the above as follows:
1. Yiasou, me lene Kathy (Katerina)
2. Iine ii proti mou fora stin (Vrazil,Spania)
3. Iime poli efharistimeni
4. Ise Omorfia(fem) Ise Omorfos(masc)
5. Ise Elkistiki/o (i is fem, o is masc)
6. Den boro na perimeno na se do or commonly used An ipomono na se tho
7. To perimeno me agonia
8. Tromero! or (Ise=You are, Ime= I am preceed tromero=masc/tromeri=fam in these cases)
9. Apo pou boro na (agoraso=to buy) kati na pio/na fao)
10. Yiassou (sing) Yiassas (pl)
12. Greeks often say (kai) Oti ipothis after yiassou, it translates to- (and) whatever you wish.
12. Oti tha gini, tha gini (soft th as its the Greek theta)
13. Se agapo
14. Sou goustaro

Notes. Greeks roll their R's like the Spaniards do and th=thelta (the greek letter is the triangle) so it should be a hard sound. ALso the English g is the Greek gama so to create the sound you need to start from inside your throat as in your softly trying to get something out..(sorry for that explanation)

also with small words usually a vowel that follows a consonant should be eccentuated..for eg.. na=nah, se= seh, Ime, Den=Dehn

I havent met anyone who is wanting to learn Greek yet but no harm in learning a few words..never know who you might meet..

Thankyou very much (efharisto poli)
Kathy

Re:Re:Re:English or Greek in exchange for Spanish/Portugese
Gday Kathy,

The correct form to say my name is Kathy is "Meu nome é Kathy" or you can say Hi,I'm Kathy "oi, sou Kathy" or Nice to meet you, I'm Kathy "Prazer, Kathy". The three forms sounds good to me, but I think the last one is more usual here in Brazil when you meet someone for the first time.

I'm too thinking of getting a gold membership.
Beijos,
Mika
