Greek Students, Speakers, I need your help please !!!!!
Hi, If your're a Greek Language Student, pls help me.

I need your advice on names of good/excellent greek books to get started with that language. I've just gotten a chance to order books from those online stores like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.

So please If you know them, give me titles of books that you consider excellents to study Greek in a deep and serious way (not just that stuff like "teach yourself greek in 20 days" or something alike) I need to learn it seriously.

I'd really appreciate your help. If you needed information about spanish, french, italian or portuguese, I could help you too.

Thank you in advance.

Rafael

Hi, I know all about your problem. I had the same thing. One really good (but fast and slightly confusing) set to learn from is "Mastering Greek". It's used to train Americans who will need to speak Greek at an American embassy. It has twelve tapes that really stress pronounciation and listening. It's not like a travel guide--it talks about declenstions, conjugation, abnormal verbs and how to use them, the past and future tenses and even has some "purist" Greek that you'll need to know in order to learn the regular language.
It's expensive, but worth it! I got mine at barnes and noble but I think you can order it through Amazon, too.
Hope this helps,
Renee

I love to learn languages too.
If you want books to learn really greek, you must buy books with tapes or cds to listen the phrases while you read.
For me the best books on the market are the books from the following collections that you find easily on internet bookstores
Colloquial greek - from english
Teach yourself greek - from english
Assimil - from french
All of them are sold only the book or the book with the cds or tapes

Each one is sufficient for months of work,
And are a lit bit expensive,
But it all depends of your decision
Good Luck
