Greek Speakers, Help me please !!!!!!!
I really need your advice on a book that i found online...
"First Greek Book", John Williams White
But it says is Classical Greek. Pls If you are Greek Speaker could you give a glance on it and advise mi if it's ok to beging with my Greek. Of course I would like to learn Modern Greek, but there's not much material online to study. Pls tell me if the greek the book refers to is modern or ancient, and if it's ancient, does classical or ancient greek difers much from modern greek?
Thank you very much.

Re:Greek Speakers, Help me please !!!!!!!
Hello Rafael! I think this book is Classical Greek, so it teaches the language of 2000 years ago. Modern Greek is very similar, and perhaps if you ultimately want to learn Modern Greek, knowing a little Classical Greek would help a lot. Only that Classical Greek grammar is more complicate than Modern Greek's. You can use the book Teach Yourself Greek. Hope that helps, bye bye!

Re:Greek Speakers, Help me please !!!!!!!
Yeia Sas Rafael,
If you want to learn modern Greek then don't learn ancient Greek. They are quite similar and you would be understood to some extent but unless you want to read texts in ancient Greek there's no reason to learn it. For modern Greek I suggest a book called 'Greek in three months' published by Hugo. It has a good layout and covers all of the grammer in depth. You might want a book called 'epikenoniste Ellinika' as well which has a lot of exercises to practice Greek. I'm not sure where you'd find them though, sorry!
Regards,
Peter.
