By "original" do you mean, not simplified? If you do, I have experienced that in learning Latin, but it's so rewarding to read original text. It is so difficult to deeply understand a book in another language though. There's so much that an author says beyond his words that are very difficult to translate.

I think that it's the best way to learn new words by reading books in original and it helps to feel the unique style of the author because it's lost in the translation

I have yet to read 'The Importance of Being Earnest.' I am reading Oscar Wilde's other classic 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'. I love reading classics.

Hi there,
I´ve already read Oscar Wilde´s " the picture of Dorian Grey" and I love his books too. But I got very angry when I read what Lord Henry was saying to Dorian.

But I have a question to all of you:
What do you think, does Basil Hallward (the artist) love Dorian?

I think he does.

Hia! I read "The Picture of Dorian Grey" when I was about 13 or 14 and I just love the story.

I'm not really sure, if Basil actually loves Dorian in the way we would understand to love a person in a "normal" way (if there's a normal way^^). I guess - because he's an artist - he loves beauty and Dorian is beautiful. It's a sort of love. A poetic, but also blinded love ;)
