I like GACKT ^^ I discovered him a long time ago as well and I mostly listen to jpop and kpop nowadays (I am a huge fangirl).
His "Last Song" is probably still my favorite but I also like "Vanilla".

I would also really like Japanese music. Although I am more than listen to rock. Groups like FLOW, one ok rock and my favorite OLDCODEX. In the case of OLDCODEX employ a trend of "live painting" combining music with the art of painting! I think they're great. I recommend you listen.

For uplifting Japanese music like Perfume, I would check out Kyaru Pamyu Pamyu, Yun*chi, and Utada Hikaru (though not all of Utada's music is uplifting). You can also check out Hatsune Miku or other music from vocaloids (digital idols).
You may also enjoy the group Flower (female group), whose music can be melancholic but it is most certainly poetic and beautiful.
