Greetings to all
Hello fmaily- My name is Shem from New York. I am happy to be a part of this commuity, this a WONDERFUL way to meet people from all over the world and improve your skills!! For starters, I'm 30 year old guy with a wife and a baby on the way, so in my free time I aspire to learn as much language skills as possible. My native language is English, and I'm very adept at Spanish although I don't speak fluent. In essence, I would like to become fluent in Spanish as my family and wife are all Spanish speakers. What's more NYC is in the top 10 Spanish speaking cities in the world! Being a native New Yorker I think it's imperative to speak Spanish. I'm also interested in learning Portuguese, a similar and equally beautiful language in my opinon. Those are the top 2 but beyong that I have an interest in Guarani and Flemish. Hope to hear from people who share my interests and want to improve their language skills as well. I'm interested in many things, too many to list here. The most important are music, arts, cinema, cultures, travel, literature, health and religions. thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself. Bravo to the founders of this site.

Re:To Emanuel
I'll give this a try...
Hej = Hello [hey] Hur mår du = how are you (feeling) [huer mawr duh] Hur är det = how are you [huer air debt] Adjö, hejdå = Good bye [ah-djeu, hey-dough] På återseende = See you [paw aw-tehr-seh-endeh] (stress the third vowel in the second word)
Letter "å" (a-ring) roughtly sounds like "aw" in paw or saw Letter "ä" (a with dots) sounds like air, Letter "ö" (o with dots) like the sound in "girl" Letter "u" like in "Sue" letter "j" is equivalent to english letter "y"
I hope this will help a little.
