Speaking Spanish in Mexico
Hi all My name is Don Sheasby, I'm a silversmith based in Cape Town, South Africa. Recently visited Mexico and am looking forward to going again, but this time I want to be able to speak with the people. This website is the most exciting possibility of learning the language that I have found on the Internet. From others who have already mastered the language I would like to obtain the answer to the question :
'What is THE ONE thing that makes learning another language achievable ?'
I'm sure that if you think back, you will discover, somewhere there was a point where you said to yourself : 'Yes, this is the turning point, I am now understanding the spoken word !!'
If you can remember that point, please pass it on.
Thanks and regards
Don

Re:HELLO in any language
Hello Chloe, For the english "hello", I suppose that you already know "salut" or "bonjour" in French. You can also say "Hallo" in Dutch and "Hej" (pronouced like the english "hey") in Swedish.

Re:Language Exchange Mandarin for English
Hi Ethan, I hope you find this message and that you will contact me. I am an older woman but have a good sense of humor. I like older rock music but my little girl has got me listening to My Chemical Romance. (They are a band and we have been to see them in concert.) I had a good time. Do you think you will ever travel to Oregon? I grew up in Southern California not far from Disneyland. I'm (I am) very glad I came to the Oregon Coast. It's (It is) beautiful here. I am not a gold member and probably won't become one. I don't (do not) make alot of money but I like my job and plan to retire within 10 years.

Native English Woman wants to learn Chinese
I'm a complete beginner but really want to learn the basics to start. Things like "Where is the restroom?" and "How much?" etc. I live on the Oregon Coast where many people come to watch whales and the wild, stormy seas. I have a 14 year old daughter who likes punk rock. She's a good girl and I hope she will get interested in language exchange also.
