CURRENT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
(many of these positions were of a temporary/contract nature due to previous family commitments, now resolved as children are now independent)
Cambden Motor Group
The Carshop, Penarth Road, Cardiff
13th November 2003 to Present

Telephonist, part-time whilst studying for MA at Cardiff University. Involves taking telephone calls from customers and transferring them through to the correct extension and/or taking messages if recipient is not available.

Development Planning Partnership, Haywood House North, Dumfries Place, Cardiff, CF10 3GA
7th July 2003 to 31st August 2003

This is a delightful job, but sadly is only a temporary position as a Secretary/Office Manager covering the position for a new member of staff relocating from another office. DPP are a firm of independent planners and the nature of my job involves liaising with senior members of many very large companies, together with many Local Authority Strategic Planning and Development personnel. I am responsible for every job required to maintain the smooth running of an office and this includes maintaining stationery supplies, ordering printing of plans and reports, cataloguing and maintaining the library of technical literature, typing very involved reports and other documentation and collating these then preparing them for despatch to the printers, general typing of letters, and basic office and admin procedures.

Hugh James Solicitors, Arlbee House, Greyfriars Road, Cardiff
6th January 2003 to 4th July 2003

Full-time legal secretary working within the internet conveyancing department. Covering all aspects of conveyancing, under supervision, including searches and registrations within a fully computerised conveyancing department. Fast audio typing. Liaising with clients via email, letter and telephone. Very busy department. Whilst this job was permanent, the situation altered whilst I was there due to re-allocation of staff through the closure of some outlying offices, and the position I was taken on to fill did not materialise. I was over-qualified for the remaining position and decided it would be better to maintain my array of skills by making myself available for new opportunities as they arose, whilst working in temporary contracts until a vacancy occurred which was more suitable to my skills, qualifications and experience.

Youngs Solicitors, 66 Whitchurch Road, Cardiff
January 2002 to January 2003

This lovely job was permanent; I worked here as a full-time legal secretary covering all disciplines within field of Law ¡V Criminal, Family, Conveyancing, PI, various tolerances and miscellaneous issues. I had sole care of office and was working largely alone, with no colleagues which, in the end became the reason I felt it was time to move on. After a year of working largely alone I was finding it becoming more difficult to maintain my personal motivation and I felt I needed a chance to build relationships through working more in a team environment. Whilst there I managed the office and maintained office files and dealt with telephone calls. I was responsible for undertaking all conveyancing matters from instruction to completion, and I liaised with clients, and maintained the solicitor¡¦s diary appointment system. I became familiar with most legal forms and documents as this office was a small High Street practice covering all aspects of law. In a secretarial capacity I audio typed all the letters and documents dictated by solicitor and was responsible for all matters appertaining to running an efficient office.

Airbus (UK), Filton, Bristol
July 2001 to January 2002

This was a long-term temporary, full-time contract where I worked as a Departmental Secretary for senior Management within the Engineering Department, maintaining electronic diary, emails and typing technical and scientific. I also covered many Project Controlling duties as I was due to be taken on as a Graduate Trainee Project Controller until 9/11 hit the aircraft industry so badly resulting in a drastic cut-back of staff. As a temporary member of staff, albeit a graduate trainee-to- be, I was one of the first to be laid off under regulations laid down by the Engineering Union at that time.

Rolls Royce Naval Marine Resource Unit, Filton, Bristol
(Gas Turbine Department)
March 2001 to July 2001

I accepted this temporary full-time job as an MRP Controller whilst still studying for my degree and was the first full-time position I had taken since returning to University, apart from the student job on the University campus. This contract was on a basic renewable monthly basis. During this job I received full training on the SAP database system and used this alongside Legacy. This Job involved expediting parts to ensure an accurate and speedy movement of goods within a virtual warehouse scenario. It also involved liaising with people at all levels to ensure stock can be tracked and accounted for when it is required.

University of Glamorgan, Student Employment Scheme
September 2000 to March 2001

This job was provided by the University to help provide students with some extra pin-money whilst they were studying on campus whilst at the same time helping the University maintain an open door policy within the computer labs during the evening opening hours. I worked part-time on the IT Helpdesk at the Law School of the University. I helped students and staff to use the computer facilities at the University. This involved some teaching of use of internet, word processing and email to new and mature students who have never had previous access and being on hand to advise on electronic research materials and show user how and where to access these sources. This job was never intended to lead to anything further and I simply took the advantage offered at the time to earn some much needed money whilst studying.

Lucas & Co Solicitors, Cardiff ¡V via CS Recruitment
13 September 1999 to 3 October 1999

This was a short-term temporary assignment as a legal secretary to cover for last few weeks of maternity leave as the previous ¡¥temp¡¦ had left. The job was more related to being a receptionist role made up with a volume of audio typing, but nothing more. The firm at that time covered all aspects of law but has since, I understand, closed down.
