Looking at the Vietnamese word for "missing" that somebody submitted, "thieu", I think it's absolutely not correct. If you look up the word "missing" in English-Vietnamese dictionary, maybe you will find the above Vietnamese word, "thieu", but it means more like "a lack of something, somebody". Since "missing" has a lot of different meanings, in this particular situation, "mất tích" is the perfect word.
Instead of "missing", in Vietnamese we say "mất tích"
