I want to hear mandarin songs
I am interested in buying some chinese mandarin CDs, but don't know what I should get as a beginner. I know I don't want children's songs, but is there something I can start as a mandarin-learner that I can understand? Any suggests on songs I can understand as a third year mandarin student plus learn a little. I am up for Rap, alternative, any type. Thanks

yeah i should agree that faye wong is a good singer...but i personally love jay chou...but fro learning mandarin, listening to him would be a bit complicated. he tends to mumble his words. but if you're out fro music, especially rap and r&b, he'd be a good choice...here in the philippines, the only available mandarin artists are jay chou, jolin, harlem yu, 5566 and then the inevitable F4. but if you are determined enough you can eventually find others...stephanie sun yan zi is great too...

yea i agree as well. there is no doubt that faye wong is a great singer, with a clean voice.. hey.. im a fan of jay chou too :) but the biggest problem with him is that people could hardly listen to what he is singing.. :p anyway, some of his lyrics are just meaningful in fact, if you really look into it, i just love his songs, his musics! talk about other singers.. david tao and landy from taiwan are 2 great singers more to r&b and pop musics.. some singers here from malaysia are great as well, like zhang zichen, penny tai and fish leong.
