An adverb is a word that adds more meaning to a verb,an adjective or another adverb.It shows us 'how' or 'to what extent' an action is done.To find out an adverb, we must ask the question 'How'
Example : John reads loudly.(reads=verb, loudly=adverb)
How does John read?
1. John reads
2.John reads loudly.
The first sentence simply tells us what John does.
The second sentence tells us how John reads.
Adverbs are words that modify or tell us more about the meanings of verbs. |
