Hello, my name is Elisabeth and i'm thinking about doing a gap year after finishing my job training in Berlin as a real estate manager in summer 2016. I have some greek language skills from every year summer holidays and my greek background (my mother is half greek). I grew up in Germany and have never been to a proper greek school and usually don't speak much greek at home so i would love to improve my greek in order or in case I want to life and work halfpart in greece. For your information i'm turning 25 years old next summer.

I am a linguist and learning Greek because I like it. Having taken classes for 5 years on and off in Ireland, I am reasonably fluent, but need to improve my vocabulary and review areas of grammar.
I spend time in Fuerth regularly and it would be good to continue with classes while there.
I don't need formal classes. Mainly conversation with someone who will correct me and expand occasionally on points of grammar and vocabulary as they arise. Read newspaper articles and discuss them, and write essays on topical subjects.

I have always loved the Greek language ever since I learned ancient Greek for 5 years in high school. After school I taught myself some modern Greek from grammar books and then visited Greece many times as a tourist, but on those occasions it is difficult to talk about anything much more than food or very general topics.
I also had a teacher (a Greek student in Berlin) for almost two years but we only had about one lesson per week on average. We went over some Greek grammar but my teacher though that it was more important for me to speak regularly in order to increase my vocabulary.
I currently live and work as a visiting professor at the University of Athens where I have have now been for 3 months and had some opportunity to improve my Greek. However, I still have difficulties understanding some Greek people when they talk at normal speed and my vocabulary is not large enough yet to understand the news completely and to be able to read newspaper articles without having to consult a dictionary.
From 7 June until 2 August I will be a visiting professor at the University of Crete in Heraklion and will stay in the centre of Heraklion. I would like to use these (almost) 8 weeks to take intensive lessons on a one on one basis (this is the optimal way of learning for me). I therefore would like to find a teacher of Greek for, let's say, at least 3 - 4 hours per week during my stay (except for maybe only 2 hours in the third week of July when I'll have to go to Rhodes for a few days).
I am happy to leave it up to my teacher to decide on my level. I would prefer though if the lessons could be mainly based on actual speaking rather than extensive grammar lessons. I am quite comfortable with Greek grammar as my teacher in Berlin also confirmed and have a lot of training in grammar (I also studied latin in school for 9 years.) It is the actual practice of speaking, advanced vocabulary and idiomatic expressions I am lacking. One condition which is not negotiable for me is that the language of instruction be entirely in Greek.
