I studied Spanish at university and at a language school in Barcelona, lived in Costa Rica, and have retained some fluency. However, all this occurred about 40 years ago and I have lost much fluency as I have few opportunities to practice Spanish. I am 69 years old and live near San Francisco, am married, play golf, swim, go to plays, movies, museums, and travel frequently throughout the world.

I lived in Finland when I was 14 and first learned Swedish there. I have taken additional classes since and really want to improve my Swedish for two main reasons. The first is that I am a high school English teacher who teachers English language learners. Learning a language myself helps me to better understand and relate to my students. The second reason is that I hope to live and teach abroad within the next few years and would like to go where I could use my Swedish (or Spanish which I also study).

I'm a 15-year-old half Japanese American. I am very interested in Japan and took language lessons for two years. Unfortunately, i did not learn that much during my time in there. I only learned hiragana with some katakana and kanji. I kind of understand the sentence structure, and i remember some words like usagi and saru. I would say i'm at preschool level... I'm interested in learning more of Japanese, since i feel i should be as close to my heritage as possible. I wish to be fluent someday.
