Hello! Ohayo gozaimasu! I would like to learn Japanese better. I have been studying about 4 years but still am nowhere near I need to be. I am a native speaker of English born and raised in Illinois, USA. I would like to start off texting or emailing because I am really shy when I meet people but we can talk over video eventually. I do hope to meet new people and learn the interesting culture of Japan. I'm really interested in the history of the sengoku, Edo, and bakamatsu eras. I do know some greetings and some words but I'm still unable to put everything together and my memory is not great so because I don't have anyone to talk with I don't remember very well when I study. I hope to eventually visit Japan someday and make good friends and hopefully meet them during my trip. I love cats and history. I also love trying to read the novels by Japanese writers. Osama dazai is one of my favorites. I am trying to read 'no longer human'. I also have bought some books that have short stories and they're supposed to help with the studying but that's also kind of hard to do. Anyway I am on here mostly on the weekends because I work long hours during the week. So please be patient and I will answer messages as soon as I can. Thank you for reading my profile. Have a great day!

I am a retired enginer and have a desire to go to Vietnam and traverse the Mekong river from its headwaters to the South China sea. I was born and raised in a small town just outside of Vancouver British Columbia Canada. I attended college in Vancouver and graduated with a BA in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation I worked for a Buisnes Form Company in Toronto Canada and in 1968 I came to California to work for a small cosmetic company until 2001 when I retired. My hobbies are woodworking and building small period furniture. I am married and have grandchildren who live with 100 miles of our home in northern California.
