My parents came to Canada from Slovakia, and I was born in Canada, we spoke Slovak at home,and I spoke English to my friends and at school. My parents are both deceased now, but I still have relatives in Slovakia, and it makes it very hard to communicate with them when I don't know how to write in Slovak.
