Instead of "maligayang kaarawan", in Filipino (Tagalog) we say "Maligayang bati"

Maligaya - happy
Kaarawan - araw (day) is the root word and ka- and -an are prefix and suffix. Kaarawan means in Tagalog, it is your day literally. You can say it also in this way : Maligayang pagbati sa araw ng iyong kapanganakan.
