My teaching is based on the Tian Di Ren (TDR) method which has proved to be 40% more effective than most other Chinese Teaching styles. However, if you are keen to use your own preferred study material this can be accommodated.
Depending on who you are and where you are based, I can either come to you or you can come to me for lessons - or of course if being in the same room isn't feasible we can use Skype (although I wouldn't recommend this unless you are merely looking to improve your oral skills).

If you are looking for private tuition in any aspect of Mandarin Chinese and would like a native Chinese tutor who can also clearly communicate in English then this may be for you.
I was born and educated in China, gaining a First Class Honours Degree in English Language in Beijing. I have been living in the UK for the last 19 years whilst continuing to work in my mother tongue as a freelance translator and Chinese language tutor, so my language credentials are sound.
I am a great believer that it is only by mastering the language that you can really begin to understand a culture other than your own, so whether you are looking to learn Chinese starting as a complete beginner; wanting to improve your Chinese; looking to pass the HSK exams so you can work in China or just fascinated by all things Chinese, I believe I can help you.

Rates for Private Individuals:
The first introductory session (half an hour) to ascertain your needs and overall ability is free of charge.
Beginners: GBP20 per hour or GBP35 per 2-hour session, per person
(Includes reading, writing, speaking and listening to Chinese. If you choose to complete the full TDR course, you will be comfortable having daily life conversations, and be able to use 460 individual Chinese characters to compose a thousand phrases and sentences.)
Intermediate: GBP25 per hour or GBP45 per 2-hour session, per person
(This is for those who have already studied Mandarin and have reached a satisfactory level at beginners. It is assumed you will have a vocabulary of around 500 Chinese characters and an understanding of basic Chinese grammar).
Advanced: GBP30 per hour or GBP55 per 2-hour session, per person
(This course is for those with at least two years Mandarin language training. It assumes a current vocabulary of around 1,200 Chinese characters and a strong understanding of Chinese grammar).
Corporate Rates:
Business Mandarin: GBP40 per hour or GBP75 per 2-hour session, per person
(For those looking to work with, or relocate to, China)
Cultural briefing and presentation: Fees negotiable depending on requirements.
General Notes:
All fee rates are based on a 1-hour session but it is recommended that you consider 2 (consecutive) sessions per week in order to facilitate the best possible progress. When consecutive sessions are booked as a 2-hour continuous lesson, the fee rate is adjusted accordingly. However, this does not apply if the 2 sessions are conducted at separate times in any one week.
All materials supplied by us are charged at the published rate.
For lessons conducted at a location of your convenience, a travel surcharge may be added, subject to distance.
