I would like to learn Mandarin for conversing and perhaps for career advancement. Although I'm ethnic chinese in Malaysia, I'm english educated. However, i do have exposure to the Mandarin language at work and can understand simple Mandarin.
I would like to learn another foreign language for fun and to pass the time. I've picked Japanese because I used to watch a lot of sub-titled anime but not anymore. I also have friends who might be interested as well.
I don't mind dedicating 2-3 hours a week per language. It also depends on the cost for the lessons. A dedicated and patient teacher is desirable. I believe the only way to learning a language is practice, so the teacher has to be someone I can actually enjoy speaking with.
