I'm just a beginner in learning Thai language. The reason why i chose to learn Thai because i love to explore the country, learn more about Thai culture and also i'm interested in teaching English to those in rural area of Thailand. It would be best to be able to speak and understand Thai. As for writing and reading, that is something i would love to work on.
I'm able to spend few hours meeting with the teacher face to face and also learn it at home whenever i get a chance. As long as the teacher is fun and creative, everything else falls along.

I am interested in learning Thai. I am not fluent by any means, but I did live in Thailand for six months so I do know quite a bit. I am definitely a beginner. I have been to Thailand for three extended trips, interning and doing research in Mae Sot on the Thai-Burmese border. Currently, I am applying for a Fulbright scholarship to study the connection between migration and development at Chiang Mai University. Thus, while previously I have formally studied Burmese instead of Thai - since more people in Mae Sot speak Burmese - I really think it is time for me to commit to consistent Thai language classes. I want to learn conversation, but I also want to learn the basics of grammer and reading. I am looking for a series of about 8 classes, once per week. I hope the lessons will be rigorous enough that I will have a good grasp of the language. I live in Morningside Heights at 114th and Broadway.
