I'm a medical student in London and have recently started my course. I'm from a Punjabi family, but being born and raised in England has led to my Punjabi falling far behind my English skills. I can say a few phrases, but that's about it, so I am basically a beginner.
I would love to be able to speak fluently with family members and relatives. In addition, being a medical student I realise that having Punjabi as a language would let me speak with a portion of patients who do not have English as a first language and that I would be able to treat them much more effectively if it was ever required. I would also love to go back to India and do some work in Punjab, helping out in hospitals, health camps and on the streets, as I really feel that I want to give something back to my culture and community. Therefore, I feel that speaking is probably the most important area for development, hopefully encompassing language to do with symptoms and health problems etc.
I have lessons during the day and so lessons on weekday evenings would be ideal, maybe one or two a week.
I am looking for any teachers that would be willing to help me achieve my goals with diligence and patience.

I would like to learn Punjabi as I my mum is Indian and speaks fluent Punjabi and I am not as good as her. I know the basics, but would like to be fluent, as my grandma can only speak Punjabi so it is hard for me to communicate well with her. I would say I am a beginner as I cannot understand Punjabi so easily and know only basic sentences. I feel I need improvement in all areas of grammer, conversation and speaking. I am not particularly interested in writing, although that would be a bonus to learn. I would like to do an hour a week with the teacher, as I don't think I could afford to do more than that, in reference to money. I would prefer my teacher to be female and more interested in teaching me to speak fluent Punjabi, but also to make me understand the basic bases more clearly. I would like my teacher to come to teach me where I live, as I think one-to-one learning is more effective, however if the learning complex was situated near me, I would not mind getting there. I would like a patient and well-qualifie d teacher, preferably.

I would like to learn Punjabi as my fiancée is from Bathinda. Bathinda is a town a little north of New Dehli. We are planning to marry in Bathinda in about 6 months time. I would like to learn the language to be able to communicate with her parents. I am a beginner with the language and would probably be interested in having one, one hour face to face lesson, and extra curriculum to study in between lessons. I am mostly interested in learning conversation rather then learning to write.
