I feel that I am at an intermediate level.
My father is brazilian and I lived in brazil for 4 months studying and learning the language and about the culture.
I am quickly declining in my speaking skills, as I now live in Canada and I have no one to practice speaking portuguese with. I would like a professional to speak casually with and to progress my speaking and writing skills.

My name is Rebecca Whitaker, and I am an ESL instructor for grades 3-6 for Mesquite ISD. I live in Dallas, Texas. My proficiency level in Portuguese is high beginning. (i.e I know numbers, months, and basic words and phrases such as pronouns, etc) I would like to learn Portuguese because my husband is Brazilian-Ame rican. When we have children, we would like our children to be tri-lingual in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. My husband will only speak Portuguese to our children, so I would like to understand what he will be saying. Also, my husband's grandmother speaks only Portuguese, and I would like to understand her. We are planning on moving to Brazil next summer, so I would like to learn as much Portuguese as possible before the move. I have various texts, but crave communication with a native Portuguese speaker. I need improvement in all areas of Portuguese. I would like to be able to speak Portuguese fluently, I need to work on listening, speaking, pronunciation , grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing. I would like to meet a few times a week over the summer, and I would like 1 hour+ sessions. I would like the teacher to be a native Portuguese speaker whose instructional style is communicative . I would like the focus to be on listening and speaking, with all other elements being supplemental. I could go to the instructor, meet inbetween, or have the instructor come to me.
