Kia Ora! My name is Jasmine Handa and I am married to a lovely Punjabi man. I have just recently returned from Punjab, India in the last week for the 4th time and am wanting to learn fluent Punjabi. Reason being is I love coversating with people and found it hard to communicate with the people of India due to basic understanding of the Punjabi language. I will love to hold a conversation on my own with my mother inlaw and family members and would love to find someone willing to teach me. As you can understand my husband has done his best to teach me as much as possible, but his English is very broken hehe. Sometimes there is a lot of misunderstand ing so I’d rather find a tutor within my vicinity that’s willing to assist me with this 😊

My sons, aged 11 and 13, and myself (aged 58) wish to learn conversationa l Punjabi. We are complete beginners as in we do not speak a word of it.
We are looking for 1 or 2 lessons per week in the evening or maybe a suitable time on the weekend, as my boys are schooling and i'm working.

My husband and I will be travelling to Punjab later this year and I will be meeting his extended family for the first time. My mother in laws English is limited and I would like to be able to respectfully be able to communicate with her and the other members of our family. It would be extremely ignorant of me to be a guest in their homes and not make an effort to communicate effectively. My husband speaks Punjabi constantly to his friends and family so I would certainly be able to practice regularly what I have learnt

I am wanting to learn Punjabi as my daughter in law speaks this language and her Mother speaks very little and I would like to communicate with her. My level is beginner. I did some Hindi classes but it seems to be quite different from Punjabi.
My main aim is to understand and speak the language. I am happy to have a lesson a week. Qualities I look for in a teacher is easy to understand and doesn't move too fast also someone that has fun also as we learn not too serious. I do not need to learn for exams or uni level. Someone that is an experienced teacher and knows how to communicate the information in an easy format.
