こんにちは! ! I have tried over a few years to learn and retain Japanese, but with gaps in time and not having ways to practice the language, I continue to lose what little progress I make. I have had a personal desire to be able to speak the language for a decade, but have more incentive recently, as my long-term partner is half Japanese with family living in Japan that we may finally get a chance to visit within the next year or so. I would love to make a good impression and be able to speak with them. I also know learning this language would broaden my ability to meet new people.
As of right now I am a beginner and know I can at least dedicate an evening a week to a session with a teacher. After feeling things out I can assess time to set aside as I continue. I am hoping to find a teacher than can help me with learning how to have conversation mostly and some basic writing so I can read signs and such in Japan. I do have some books to work in in between lessons, such as the Genki workbook.

I like the language and I would like to re-visit Okinawa, Japan sometime in the near future again. I was once stationed on the island for several years and I got to know some local people. I've taken some college courses many years ago and forgotten most if not all of what I learned. Therefore, I need a lot of help with conversationa l Japanese with a heavy inefficient on the Okinawan dialog. I'm ready to commit to a minimum of 4-6 per week.

I would love if someone who is fluent in both Japanese and English to teach me Japanese. I tried studying on my own, but that did not work very well. This has caused me to seek other methods of learning the language. I want to learn Japanese simply because I love how the language sounds and I love the Japanese culture. I would like to learn this foreign language because I may be planning to go to Japan because I find Japan's culture very fascinating.
I've memorized around 200 kanji's by their images (not their readings) and I also know hiragana and a little katakana.
What I need help is conversations , learning to use kanji in sentences, and the placements of words.
I would like to dedicate my time in learning this language for around 30 minutes to 1 hour.
I am looking forward for my Japanese teachers to teach me.
