I'm interested in learning Portuguese for a couple of reasons. One my boyfriend is Portuguese and his family speaks it fluently, so i'd love to be able to understand and speak with them on that level, eventually. As well, we are planning to go to Portugal next year and I would love to understand the language and be able to get myself around.
I would need to start as a beginner. I understand the basics as far as masculine/fem inine but I don't know how to speak sentences and pick up the odd word here and there.
I'd like to do this on a part-time basis, possible in the evenings or even on weekends. I do have a full-time job so wouldnt want this to interfere with that.
I' m looking for a teacher who is willing to have much patience with me and is willing to put up with someone who may ask a ton of questions!

Hello
My daughter, who is 17, and I would like to learn basic conversationa l Italian. We want to do this because we have Italian relatives (my wife's brother married an Italian woman and they have 2 daughters) coming to visit in July and we want to be able to speak with them in their native language.
We are definitely beginners and have no previous experience with Italian.
We would be willing to dedicate 1 1/2 hours per session twice a week. The days may vary based on my schedule. These lessons could take place in our home or in a location of the teachers choosing provided it is relatively close to us (eg preferably on the North Shore of Vancouver)
I would like a teacher whose first language is Italian. He/She would have a positive encouraging approach but still be honest with feedback and suggestions. I would hope there are materials provided that would allow us to practice at home between sessions as we only have approximately 4 months to get to an appropriate level.
