I have always enjoyed watching Japanese dramas (with subtitles, of course), so I figured it would be a good idea to learn Japanese. Also, I am Chinese, so the writing system is somewhat similar. I'm already learning Spanish in school, so as you can see I'm very interested in learning new languages. I hope to have a teacher who will teach me standard textbook grammar, but also will apply classroom learning to everyday conversations and media.

I am a beginning Japanese student, and have taken one semester of intensive Japanese, using the Genki textbook - we covered through chapter 8. I'm learning Japanese because I wanted to learn a language with at least one different mode of writing than English, because Japanese sounds beautiful, because the sentence structure is interesting, and because of the cultural insights provided by an in-depth study of the language. I'm willing to dedicate 4 hours or more a day to language, in homework or lessons, occasionally more. I'm looking for intense lessons, where I can learn fast and well, with someone who will challenge and inspire me, and who I can relate to.
