I am a beginner who has been trying to teach himself. I wish to become proficient in Tibetan as part of my religious training and, hopefully, begin working on translating classical texts, as well as serving the Tibetan community in exile in any way possible. I am willing to devote a minimum of 10-15 hours weekly for study, not including tutorials. I am looking for a teacher who has a command of English, is a good educator who can move his or her student along, and has a good sense of humor.

I have recently become very involved with a particular group of Tibetans from a monastery in India and have started to learn some of their language.
I am hoping to continue my involvement with these people helping them arrange tours etc in Canada, as well as starting up non-profit organisations aimed at further assisting the refugees in the monastery.
While communication up until now has been done in person and through a translator travelling with the Tibetans I feel my proficieny in their language will help me immensely now that contact will be made mainly over the phone and via written communication such as email and letters.
A ny help I can get with learning this language would be greatly appreciated.
I will specify the dialect further however, if it helps I believe they understand and speak Lhasa dialect. There is a more specific name for the region the particular ones I would be communicating with are from.
I will add that info in as I am able to obtain the correct spelling of it in English.
R ight now I am at a very beginner level of learning this language but am VERY eager to continue as soon as possible.
