Hello,
Our 8 year old daughter has had two years of beginning Chinese (Mandarin). We have a 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter who know most of their body parts and some colors and numbers.
W e would like a Native Chinese speaker to teach all of them (although some individual instruction is obviously needed) on Sundays.
I t is most important for our 8 year old daughter to have good instruction.
We envision a session that plays simple games with all of them (i.e. name this body part, color, number. Say hello, good bye, etc.) at first, and then individual instruction for our older daughter (i.e. conversation instruction, and a little bit of writing instruction-- conversation more important). The total instruction should be about one hour.
We have the 'Rosetta Stone - Chinese' and 'Pimsler - Chinese' software packages that you can assign to supplement instruction during the week if you like.
The teacher must be comfortable with young children. We prefer a female teacher because they tend to relate to children well.

I'm an adult with no Chinese (Mandarin) education at all (though I can converse in short & simple Mandarin). I'd like to learn to read, write & converse well with confidence in Mandarin.
The reason for learning is to prepare for career advancement. No areas to improve as I'd like to start with the basic and hope to progress along the way.
Time for lesson:2-3 hours/week with flexible timing & on a 1 to 1 basis.
No specific qualities except that the teacher must be bilingual (English), with teaching experience & be able keep the lessons interesting.

HI,
I've gone through a basic course in Mandarin but due to lack of practice have not been able to maintain the skills taught.
I would like to pursue the language as a matter of academic and professional interest.I'm keen on the conversationa l aspect of the language and some basic knowlege of the written word.
I would be able to dedicate a few hours a week for lessons.
I would prefer to be part of a 'classroom' learning programme, as i feel interaction is paramount to language learning.
A teacher who is knowledgeable (language and culture),enth usiastic and facilitates a healthy interaction is what I would look for.

I am an extreme beginner. I don't know anything about the language whatsoever. However, I pick things up fairly quick so languages shouldn't be a barrier. I'm planning to travel to China next summer and would like to know the basics before I go.
I'm also trying to research more of the Eastern cultures and religions so any info on any of that would be a plus as well. Thanks.
