I am an intermediate Mandarin speaker with basic reading and writing skills. I lived and worked in Taiwan for 18 months in the mid-90's and have since taken a couple of Chinese language classes (2nd and 3rd year) at Pasadena City College. I want to improve my spoken Chinese and learn how to read a newspaper. I would like to find a teacher who will keep me on a steady pace but tailor the lessons to my needs. I would be interested in in-person lessons, possibly with phone/interne t-conference based supplements. I am interested in using simplified characters and focusing on business-rela ted vocabularies. i can spare two days a week for the course.
the instructor, apart from mandarin should have a strong knowledge of either hindi or english, which will enable better communication . he/she should preferably be young with flexible timings.

I wish to learn Mandarin Chinese. I am at beginner level. I have already had some teaching but of a very basic level so i need to start from complete beginner again. I would prefer private lessons for approximately 3-4 hours per week. I would like to learn conversationa l chinese to help me with communicating when on holiday in China. I would like to concentrate on spoken Chinese but also learn some written Chinese.

I am a languages graduate in French and Spanish and love travelling and using my languages. My next destination is China and I am keen to learn basic Mandarin before going there next year. Depending on how successful the lessons are and how well my trip goes I would like to devote more time to studying and use it in a business context. At the moment I would like to devote a couple of hours a week to lessons with a native speaker who can teach me about the culture as well as the language.
