i am beginner and interested to understand and speak chinese-manda rin language for personal advancement. i need to learn on conversation and grammar construction. i have 3 to 4 hours a week to dedicate with my lessons. lastly, the teacher should have a quality of good understanding , the chinese culture, knowlegeable in english language and she must be patient with the student.

My wife and I are adopting a child from Taiwan later this year or next year (2008 or 2009). We would like to have some basic skills in Mandarin before travelling to Taiwan to finalize the adoption. We are interested in both speaking skills and reading/writi ng skills (reading is more important than writing).
She took some courses in Chinese in college, but is still beginner (or a little better). I am definitely at beginner level.
