We used to live in Shanghai and My daugther had two years of Mandarin and my son one year. I will like that they continue learning Mandarin. I prefered their lessons at home for one hour each, any day M-F from 4 to 5pm.

I have been wanting to learn Chinese for a long time. I am an English language editor. I have an aptitude and a special flair for learning languages. Ultimately I would like to take up translation work from Chinese to English, if I am able to attain the required proficiency.
I would like my teacher to be well-versed with Chinese.He/sh e should be a diligent person who would be patient enough to teach me the language with the proper accent. Knowing a language is an asset, and I would like to be thorough in spoken and written Chinese.
I can devote 2-3 hours a week, but this is flexible.

I have been studying Mandarin in Taichung Taiwan for the last 12 months. I intend going to Danang, Vietnam in June 2009 for at least one year and would like to continue my Chinese studies. I am above beginners level - from 0-9 my level is 3 leading to 4.
I have learn traditional characters so far.
I am retired from work and wish to become reasonably fluent so that I can travel within China - I have a strong interest in Chinese and asian cultures.
I particularly wish to improve my conversation and grammar skills. Remembering characters to read and write is proving a little difficult.
I would be willing to dedicate at least two hours per day to 1-1 or small class tuition
I look for a teacher who is concise in explaining grammar (not necessarily using English language)and is patient.
