Im a beginner, learning Japanese I wish to understand my anime/manga without having english subtitles or translations. I also wish to take a year out after I finish my first degree at university to live in Japan. Most importantly, I would to be fluent in speaking Japanese and less importantly able to read and write japanese, although I understnd both are need for full comprehension of the language. Depending on what I am able to afford, I would like to spend 1-2 hours a week with a tutor, and I will also practice in my own time. I don't mind how I am taught or who by, I only ask that I'm not put on-the-spot for answers as I do not tnd to work well this way and often lose my confidence in all I've done so far.

I am a beginner looking to learn Japanese. I want to learn not only to speak Japanese but also how to read & write Japanese as well. I am learning for two reasons. First I am interested in Japanese culture. This includes the language itself as well as music and film and learning the language would allow me to understand and enjoy the culture better. Second, it would give me an extra ability that I could put on my CV and this would help in getting a job and advancing my career in the future. I can dedicate upto four hours a week for my lessons. I am looking for a tutor who is friendly, supportive and patient. I'm not especially clever or gifted but I'm willing to listen and to learn with an open mind and dedication.
