I have been learning Chinese for the past four years, unfortunately though my conversation skills (and grammar for that matter) are very weak. I am currently taking a Chinese course at McGill University, although I feel the class does not provide me with enough time to respond and actually understand what is going on. In the future I would like to work in a Chinese company, or in a company that does business with China and I figure that knowing Chinese would be a necessity. I am looking for an understanding teacher with whom I would be able to take my time and actually have a conversation at my own pace. I am looking for about 2-3 day/week either private or semi-private classes.

It's a little sad that I grew up in a Chinese family and learned Mandarin throughout my elementary years, yet still left with no Mandarin skills. I want to learn.. or rather relearn Mandarin because I wish to live in Hong Kong and Mandarin is a must. Though Cantonese would be helpful as well, I would prefer to tackle Mandarin first then Cantonese. I understand more Mandarin than I do speak or read it. I would estimate my knowledge to be in the grade 1 or 2 level. I want to improve in every possible way. Dedication to learning the language will be no issue as I do realize the importance of it now and will take it with all seriousness. I'm looking for a teacher that is patient and will teach me actual conversationa l/ colloquial skills, not phrases that do work, but no one says them.

I want to further my education in the Chinese language due to career advancement and possible placement in China for an extended period. I currently am at an intermediate level for speaking mandaring and beginner for reading/writi ng. I took two years (up to intermediate level) of Mandarin in College but due to the lack of practice I have forgotten most of my reading/writi ng.
I would like to specifically learn business language, terms, etiquette, reading/writi ng, etc. But overall I would like to learn as much as possible before I go to China.
I would like to spend 1-2 hrs M-Th, and possibly some time on Saturday if available. Flexible schedule would be ideal.
