I am very interested in learning Vietnamese. My girlfriend is Vietnamese and her parents do not know how to speak English. I would really like to learn Vietnamese in order to speak with her parents.
I would also like to learn how to read & write in Vietnamese possibly. One of my favorite writers in Thich Nhat Hanh, so I would like to read his works in the original language.

I have decided to learn Russian simply because I know how it will benifit me in my future career. Also, I am a pretty talkative person, and the more languages I know, the more people I can chat with.
I have no experience with the Russian language, other than the five minute Rosetta Stone demo.
As far as time dedication goes, I would like to have a few hours a week in lessons. I work during the week and Saturday. However, I get off of work at 1pm on Sat. And because I work on Saturdays, I will have a day off during the week. However, it could be any random day. I am always off on Sunday.
I am looking for a teacher who is fluent in Russian. Not just one of those who can just make small talk. I like a teacher who is patient and who will give me material to review at home.
About me: My name is Meridith. I speak English and Spanish. I am a hard worker and I will dedicate my free time to studying. To me, learning a new language isn't just some whim I am on. I sincerley want to learn.

I took 3 semesters of College Russian about 10-15 years ago, and spoke our beginner Russian with our adopted son then. I have not used it since. We plan to visit Russia next summer (2012) and I would like to brush up on my Russian. I tend to be good at languages, so I think much will come back to me quickly, but I need to start at the beginning (grammar, conversation) .
