Beginner (I'm using a book from 1937 (Bokmal) called Beginning Norwegian)
I wish to learn Norwegian to help in becoming a naturalized citizen of Norway. I wish to move there within the next 5 years.
I am having difficulty with continuing any particular area of my studies. My book does not contain modern or extensive examples.
I can dedicate anywhere from 2-5 hours a day.
I much prefer flash card studies. I also enjoy a teacher that will set an atmosphere dependent upon the level of study. For example, a child's classroom for beginner level to better coincide with my comfort level of learning.

I would like to learn Mandarin first and then Cantonese; profiency in Mandarin - absolute beginnger, in Cantonese - understand some. My family and I will be traveling to China in June, 2009 and I'd like to be able to converse/ask basic questions. I can dedicate as much time as it will take to learn and would prefer private lessons. My teacher would be patient and have a sense of humor, and, if the lessons take place in my home, like dogs.

Trave l to Ukraine for Business and personal interest involving individual and group guided tours with established Ukrainian educational service and tour company located in Kharkov and for photo and video documentary of the culture, people and historical sites of Ukraine.
E stablish the ability to converse on a minimal scale with the locals particularly conversation.
The time involved would depend on the fees charged by the instructor and the ability to offer online and/or in-person turoring. Mimimum 1X per week.
Pref er a woman tutor - freindly, knowledgable, patient and overall have hands-on knowledge of the lanquage and an understanding of the people and culture of Ukraine.

I have been studying Italian for a number of years, but at my age (!), I forget grammar points if I don't continually re-learn them. I have taken Italian 1,2, and 3 at Cabrillo College and have attended various classes at the Dante Society in Santa Cruz, but there aren't many venues available for continued study. I am learning Italian because I love the language and it keeps my mind in shape! I would like to meet once a week in person and am willing to work hard on homework during the rest of the week.(I work in Morgan Hill and get off at 2pm, so would like to meet after that.) I would like to review grammar, especially subjunctive, si impersonale and other points. I would also like to expand my very limited vocabulary.
