I am a native English speaker who is marrying into an Indonesian family. My fiancee immigrated to America years ago and speaks English well, but his parents are still in Jakarta. They understand English, but are more comfortable with Indonesian (of course). I would like to learn Indonesian so I can at least understand his parents in their native language. I do not know any Indonesian now, aside from a few phrases.
I could dedicate about 1 hour per week to language lessons. I am on the Peninsula in the SF Bay Area, but could travel to San Jose, SF, or anywhere along the Caltrain Corridor.
I am looking for a native Bahasa Indonesia speaker who can meet with me both in person and occasionally through video chat, such as Skype. Either individual or small group lessons would work. I need a kind and patient teacher who is good at teaching both formal and informal conversationa l Indonesian. Thank you.

I currently have no knowledge of Mandarin; however, I am motivated to learn for the following reasons:
1.) My daughter is currently learning Mandarin. She was born in the States; however, her mother's side of the family is from Taiwan and speaks primarily Madarin. I would like to help her learn and to learn as well.
2.) I would like to eventually use the Mandarin language in business. I am currently in the accounting/fi nance field and believe that Mandarin will become more and more important within the next 5-10 years.
I would prefer to meet either 2 or 3 times per week depending on the cost and location availability.
