La Familia

*Definitite articles  singular and plural number, and masculine and femenine gender: 

   El = the (singular masculine gender)
   La = the (singular femenine gender)
   Los = the (plural maculine gender)
   Las = the (plural femenine gender)
 
*Genders In Spanish every noun has a gender.  Nouns ending in "a" are femenine gender nouns (expecpitions to be explained in a further lesson.)  Nouns ending in "o"  are masculine gender nouns (very few exceptions.)    
El padre (papá)=the father (dad)
 
La madre (mamá)=the mother (mom)
 
Los padres=the parents or a group of fathers
 
 El hijo=the son
 
La hija=the daughter
 
hijos=children   (mix group: son/s and daughter/s  or more than one son)
 
hijas=daughters
 
abuelo (abuelito)=grandfather (grandpa)
 
abuela (abuelita)=grandmother (grandma)
 
abuelos  (abuelitos)=grandparents  (grands)
 
hermano=brother
  
hermana=sister
 
hermanos=siblings
