Simple Present - To be verb

(Affirmative)

In English, in the simple present, the to be verb can be conjugated into three forms: affirmative, negative, and question form.

In the affirmative form there are two sub forms: affirmative full form and affirmative contraction form. A verb should be conjugated with the personal pronouns primarily: I, you, he, she, it, we, you and they.

1. Affirmative full form

I am

You are

He is

She is

It is

We are

You are

They are

2. Affirmative contraction form

I'm

You're

He's

She's

It's

We're

You're

They're

We usually use the to be verb to say our names, our nationality, our age, and our job.

For example:

I'm Pablo.

I'm from Ecuador.

I'm 29 years old.

I'm an English and French teacher.
