My Approach to Mastering Igbo Contex tual Immersion: Instead of just teaching words like nri (food), I place them in sentences that reflect daily life, such as “Biko, nwekwaa nri?” (Please, is there food?). The Power of Tone: Igbo is a tonal language. I emphasize the importance of high, low, and mid tones, as a slight change can turn akwa (egg) into akwa (cloth) or akwa (cry). Prov erbial Wisdom: You cannot speak Igbo well without ilu (proverbs). I integrate these to teach the philosophy and wit of the Igbo people. Saf e Failure: I provide a judgment-free space where students can make mistakes, practice pronunciation , and refine their grammar until it becomes second nature. Wha t Makes This Unique? Ada ptive Pacing: I adjust to the student's speed. If they struggle with the suffix -kwuo, we stay there until they get it. If they are fast, we dive into complex literature.
