The main requirement or condition to master in a foreign language is first of all the wish of the student to do it.
The second step is to find new approaches with every new student.
Some examples may be more vivid than just words.
A student of mine, a greeck man of 36 was willing to learn Russian while working in Armenia. He was overloaded in his office, so he had no spare time to learn Russian and more over to do some homework. Thus, I used to meet him at 8 o'clock in his office one hour before his work starts, and explain, train and fix the new topic on the lesson. I used handouts, colour papers with words and constructions /models/ printed in big fonts for him to attach them on the wall and from time to time just to look at them. It helped him to remember them unconsiously.
Besides, we together repeated many times different words, sentences, and formed dialogues. And he did it. It took us 4 months, he learned the oral, every-day speech. I should also mention that it was not o... |
