Thank you for your interest in learning Amharic, the widely spoken Ethiopian language. I am native and experienced Amharic teacher and translator. I am a professor at UC Berkeley, and I am sure you will have a great language learning experience with me. I look forward to proving that to you.

Teaching Experience

Initially trained as an English teacher to the level of a Masters degree. Having taught English for over a decade, I became as a self-made translator and teacher of Amharic which is my native language. I also wrote my own book of Amharic learning titled as 'Amharic for Foreigners and the Ethiopian Diaspora: Beginner to Intermediate' which is available on Amazon.
I am currently a professor of Amharic at UC Berkeley.

BA in Foreign Languages and Literature (English and French), and MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I also have some postgraduate coursework in Applied Linguistics and Communication .

1) Is Amharic a complex language?
It is not a complex language to learn. Compared to the languages I know (English, French & Amharic itself), it is the most straightforwa rd language for learners. It has more predictable patterns and rules than English and French. It only appears to be a complex language when you just look at it without learning or knowing how it works.
2) Can you schedule your classes on flexible terms?
Yes, you can. I have flexible schedules and once we have our first meeting, we will surely make the class schedules work for both of us.
3) What is my payment terms?
The payment term will be determined based on the length of your learning. If you would like to do classes for a short period, say, for a month or less, you will be required to pay your tuition upfront at the beginning of class. If you do for a longer period, say, two or more months, then you will be paying beginning of each month.
4) What other ways do I have to help you learn effectively?
I can connect you to my other students, to my YouTube channel and other online resources.
