Teaching Approach

Differentiatio n is the key to learning a new language and I am consistently adaptable and flexible in my approach to teaching English to students of varying levels of competence and fluency. I have proven results at all levels and use a variety of reading, writing and spoken conversationa l resources that have proved very successful with students in the past. I am keen to understand the specific interests, requirements and needs of my students and to build a programme of study that is uniquely bespoke to their specific needs.

Program Description

I have over 20 years experience teaching English Language and English Literature in a variety of English and International schools in the UK and overseas. I teach examination courses at both iGCSE, Advanced Level and International Baccalaureate level. I am currently the Head of English at a a large International school in Luxembourg.

Teaching Experience

I was an English Teacher from 1993 - 2013 in a variety of state and private schools in the UK. I also held management positions in those schools.
Fro m 2013 to the present I have held the position of Head of English at a large international school in Luxembourg.

Teacher Training

A Level Qualification s from the UK in 1988.
BA (Hons) degree in International Politics from Teesside University UK 1991.
Post Graduate Teaching Degree (PGCE) from Keele University UK 1993.
Post Graduate Youth Work Qualification from Staffordshire County Council, UK. 1995.
Leader ship Pathways Management Diploma . National Teaching Council, UK 2010.
COBIS Leading from the Middle, Middle Management Qualification . COBIS London & Luxembourg 2014-2015.

Teaching can be done after 16.00 Monday to Friday and any time during the weekend.

P ayment can be made in cash or by bank transfer.

During my teaching of English I have taught students with special educational needs as well as students applying for some of the best universities in the world, (Oxbridge, Yale, Stanford).
I have worked as an external examiner for one of the largest examination awarding bodies in the UK (AQA).
Curre ntly my role incorporates teaching students from the age of 11-19 who speak English sometimes as a second or even third language. A typical class may include students who are not native English speakers and I may have as many as 14 different nationalities in front of me as I teach. This is where differentiati on, flexibility and good humour come into play.

35 EUR per hour per student. 60 EUR per hour for two students.
