Teaching Approach

Normal grammar, alphabet and other formal learning methods will be used to enrich the learning process so that the student can acquire lasting skills in the language, not just a short-term case study that fades away after a few months. I am flexible and will be patient in order to make sure that the students acquire the necessary linguistic skills. I will use video-confere ncing and will encourage students to chat with me and improve their oral skills. From time to time I will provide exercises which will help them practice what they learn.

Program Description

Use simple lesson plans to help students acquire oral skills quickly which they can apply in day-to-day settings. Then from there get into complex words and pronunciation and build a good vocabulary. Also accommodate the specific needs of those who are travelling or who will be involved in language-spec ific cases. I will use free online resources to refer students who are willing to learn more in their free time.

Teaching Experience

I had an A equivalent in my final High school exam. I am currently doing a certification course in Community Interpreting in Canada so that I can serve as a Swahili-Engli sh Interpreter for two immigrant settlement organizations . I was often a tutor to my fellow students in high school and college because I was an A student. In the past 4 years I helped my daughter with her work.......ed it or clarify her assignments as she pursued her Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism degree. I am confident that I can help anyone become proficient in Kiswahili if they too do their part.

Teacher Training

I am an economist with 20 years work experience in Kenya and was involved in teaching stakeholders in the field in Kiswahili which is our second language. I also have an M.A. in International Affairs. Training certificates will be available soon but I have had my Swahili oral and written skills for 50 years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Teaching schedule is flexible depending on student' availability. Since most teaching will be online I can send the lessons to the students then discuss them during video conferencing. Since students will all not be at the same level I will pay more attention and not allow the slower ones to delay others. So, the schedules will be tailored to individual learning speeds.

I prefer for students to pay for 10 lessons at a time before they begin. Then they will have the option to proceed or not as we go along. I will be accepting payments by paypal.com.

I am conversant with both classroom learning and online learning and I have researched various resources that help students acquire Swahili language skills quickly and without getting bored or stressed during the learning.
